Inspiring Inquiry, Building Community: Inaugural Term 1 at GGCS
Kenji Seng - Director of School
As we officially conclude our very first Term 1 at Genesis Global Community School, I am delighted to share how truly proud we are of the remarkable growth, achievements, and community spirit that have defined our inaugural months. Establishing a new school is an extraordinary endeavour, and this term has demonstrated the strength, resilience, and shared commitment of our entire community—students, parents, teachers, and staff alike.
From the beginning, we set out to cultivate a learning environment grounded in the IB philosophy—one that nurtures inquiry, global-mindedness, and holistic development. We are pleased to see this vision taking root. Our students have begun to embrace a culture of care, collaboration, and curiosity, while our staff continue to embody a model of reflective practice and continuous improvement. As a young school, we recognize that growth is ongoing; the areas in which we can strengthen our systems and practices are not setbacks but opportunities for innovation and optimization. By modelling lifelong learning ourselves, we demonstrate to our students that education is a journey without boundaries.
Our end of term Student Led Conferences and PYP Unit Celebration offered a meaningful insight into our students’ learning. Students confidently presented their work, articulated their thinking, and reflected on their progress—an essential component of the IB approach to student agency. Meanwhile, our MYP students applied interdisciplinary skills during Market Day, transforming classroom learning into real-world application as they researched, planned, created, and engaged authentically with the school community during our Cultural Fair. These moments highlight not only academic development, but also communication, creativity, and entrepreneurial thinking.
Beyond the classroom, student life at GGCS continues to flourish. Our monthly Fun & Creative Wednesdays have quickly become a beloved tradition, giving students opportunities to express themselves during themed days such as No Bag Day, Twin Day, and Cultural Dress Day. The growing enthusiasm for our open-mic lunch sessions has also showcased the confidence and talent emerging throughout our school! These initiatives are more than just events; they are part of our commitment to cultivating joyful learning environments where students feel safe, celebrated, and empowered.
As we move forward, we remain inspired by what we have built together—and even more excited for what lies ahead. Term 1 has set a strong foundation, and we are committed to deepening our practices, strengthening our programs, and continuing to foster an exceptional learning journey for every child at GGCS.
Thank you for your partnership, trust, and belief in our school. Together, we will continue shaping a community where learning thrives, values are lived, and students grow into compassionate, capable, and globally minded individuals.

Tigers Triumph at the Dragon Youth Basketball Tournament
Leody Sarmanella - MYP Principal
Genesis Tigers delivered a poised and commanding performance at the Dragon Youth Basketball Tournament held on Sunday, November 23 at Jakarta Intercultural School, completing an undefeated run and securing a proud 1st Place finish. Throughout the competition, the team played with maturity, confidence, and composure well beyond their years.
The Tigers opened the day with a hard fought 34–27 win over the Global Prestasi School Eagles, setting the tone with disciplined defense and steady ball movement after trailing at the start. Their momentum grew with a convincing 31–11 victory against the JIS Dragons, highlighted by refined teamwork and precise execution on both ends of the court. The final match—a decisive 48–24 win over Springfield—showcased the team at their best: organized, energetic, and commanding.
More than athletic skills, the Tigers demonstrated outstanding character. Their sportsmanship, humility, and commitment to GGCS’s RAISE values elevated their performance and reflected the heart behind the scoreboard.
This achievement was made even more meaningful by the unwavering support of parents who cheered passionately from the sidelines. Their presence boosted the players’ spirit and added to the sense of community and celebration.
Congratulations to our athletes and coaches on an exceptional tournament performance and a well-earned championship title. This victory stands as a proud moment for GGCS and a testament to dedication, teamwork, and heart.
Go Tigers!
Guardians of Our Community
Herman Adi - MYP Design Teacher
Not all heroes wear capes—some wear GGCS security uniforms. Every day, our security personnel arrive with courage, professionalism, and unwavering dedication. They may work quietly, but their presence is powerful. As the first line of protection and support for our school community, they help create an environment where students can learn and grow with confidence.
Whether they are greeting families with respect, staying attentive during long shifts, or responding to unexpected situations with calm assurance, our security team reminds us that safety is a shared responsibility—and they lead by example.
Beyond patrolling the school grounds day and night, our guards protect our community in ways that often go unnoticed but have a significant impact. A simple act, like calling a student’s name during pick-up, might seem routine, but it ensures that every child leaves with the correct guardian. This attention to detail prevents risks and safeguards our students. Their vigilance, commitment, and care make them true everyday heroes of GGCS.
Thank you to our everyday heroes, the GGCS security team!

A Splash of Courage and School Spirit
Diana Waani - PYP Principal
Genesis Global Community School recently hosted a highly successful Swim Meet—our very first time organizing a swimming competition on campus on Sunday, November 23. The event highlighted the strength, spirit, and growing confidence of our students, and served as a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when determination, preparation, and community come together.
Our swimmers demonstrated impressive discipline and resilience in every race. Whether competing for the first time or pushing to surpass personal bests, each student displayed courage and a strong commitment to continuous improvement—qualities we aim to nurture across all areas of learning at GGCS.
The atmosphere around the pool reflected the best of our school community. Families offered unwavering support, coaches provided thoughtful guidance, and students encouraged one another with genuine enthusiasm. This shared energy is what makes GGCS a place where young people feel empowered to challenge themselves and grow.
Hosting a competition of this scale would not have been possible without the dedication and teamwork behind the scenes. We extend our deepest appreciation to the PE Department, lifeguards, cleaning staff, and security team , whose hard work ensured a safe, smooth, and well-organized event.
Most importantly, we congratulate all our swimmers for representing Genesis Global Community School with pride, perseverance, and positivity. Events like this reinforce our commitment to holistic education—developing confident, balanced, and motivated learners who embrace both challenge and opportunity.
Learning as a Lifelong Journey
Syifaul Khuluq - MYP Coordinator
At GGCS, the Middle Years Programme encourages students to see learning not as a task to finish, but as a continuous journey. Through inquiry-driven lessons, our students learn to ask meaningful questions, explore different viewpoints, and link new ideas to real-world situations. This approach helps them develop curiosity and a genuine enjoyment of learning that extends well beyond the classroom.
The MYP truly comes alive at GGCS. Instead of memorizing information, students investigate concepts, test ideas, and build understanding through hands-on experiences. Learning becomes active and personal—something they take ownership of, rather than something simply handed to them.
Lifelong learning thrives when education is meaningful. Our MYP units are designed to be conceptually rich and connected to global contexts, enabling students to explore issues such as identity, culture, technology, and sustainability. At GGCS, we make these connections to help students understand why learning matters and how they can apply it to real-life situations.
A clear example of this is the MYP Project. At GGCS, students design and complete an independent project based on their personal interests—an experience that fosters passion, independence, and resilience. They exhibit their understanding through interdisciplinary unit programmes in the form of real work projects that contribute to shaping a sustainable future.
For us at GGCS, lifelong learning is more than an outcome—it is a mindset. Through the MYP, students grow into reflective, adaptable, and engaged young people who continue to question, explore, and contribute positively to their communities.

Culture Fair: Learning in Action, Community in Celebration
Karyn Seng - Head of Addmision & Marketing
This month, our Culture Fair provided a powerful example of how learning at Genesis extends beyond the classroom and into authentic, student-led experiences. Throughout the event, students applied skills developed through the IB curriculum — from research and communication to collaboration, creativity, and reflection.
Our PYP learners confidently presented what they have been studying about cultures and traditions, expressing their understanding through music, movement, and storytelling. Many performed using traditional instruments they had explored during their units of inquiry, demonstrating not only skill development but also an appreciation for global perspectives.
Meanwhile, our MYP students transformed their learning into action by organizing a vibrant cultural bazaar. They researched recipes, prepared traditional snacks, designed their booth displays, and managed sales on the day of the event. This experience allowed them to apply interdisciplinary skills, including financial literacy, planning, teamwork, and entrepreneurship — all within a culturally meaningful context.
We were delighted to welcome parents on campus to experience the event firsthand, from tasting traditional treats, and enjoying performances to sharing stories with fellow families. The laughter, support, and connection felt throughout the day reflected exactly what makes GGCS special.
At Genesis, events like the Culture Fair serve a deeper purpose: they bring learning to life, strengthen relationships, and create a sense of belonging for every student and family. We look forward to many more opportunities where our community can learn, celebrate, and grow together in a tight-knit environment.
We look forward to many more moments of learning, joy, and togetherness as our community continues to flourish!
Learning to Choose, Choosing to Learn!
Dian Lestari - PYP Coordinator
In the Primary Years Program, even our youngest learners are discovering the joy of making good choices. Each day, children choose which book to read, which tools to use for writing, or how they want to share their ideas. These small moments of choice help them feel proud, independent, and excited to learn - while still being safely supported by caring teachers.
At GGCS, student agency doesn’t mean letting children do whatever they want. Instead, it means offering safe, thoughtful choices that are aligned with learning goals. When students decide to solve a problem in a new way or explore a topic through drawing, building, or conversation, teachers are there to guide them toward choices that are both fun and meaningful. This balance keeps learning standards strong while honoring the unique personalities of each child.
This all connects beautifully to our theme of “Stay Safe, Stay Smart” as we strive to maintain and foster a safe and supportive community. Students learn to choose appropriate materials, move responsibly around the classroom, ask for help when a task feels challenging, and use kind words with their peers. These everyday habits help them build judgment, confidence, and awareness—skills they will carry with them for life.
As a growing school community, we are learning side by side. Children collaborate, share responsibilities, and celebrate each other’s achievements. They begin to understand that GGCS is a place where everyone belongs, everyone contributes, and everyone is cared for. When students feel safe and respected, they are more willing to explore new activities, try new challenges, and express their ideas in playful and creative ways.
Ultimately, our goal is simple: To help children become curious, confident learners who make safe choices, smart decisions, and joyful discoveries every day!

The Success of Genesis Family Fit Day 2025
Edi Sopian - MYP P.E. Teacher
Genesis Family Fit Day 2025 concluded with outstanding success, bringing together students, parents, teachers, and staff in a vibrant celebration of health, unity, and community spirit. Held on a bright Saturday morning, the event reaffirmed our school’s commitment to promoting an active lifestyle through enjoyable, family-friendly activities.
The day began with a Morning Walk, where families strolled side-by-side, filling the route with cheerful conversations, laughter, and positive energy. Children set the pace with enthusiasm, while parents and teachers followed with smiles, creating a warm and supportive atmosphere.
The momentum carried into our Aerobic and Creative Dance Session. The field came alive with upbeat music as participants of all ages joined the instructors in dynamic movements. The excitement was contagious—children danced freely, parents moved with confidence, and even staff members joined in, proudly revealing their hidden dance talents.
Adding to the excitement were our House games designed to promote teamwork, coordination, and friendly competition. Families participated in relay races, wood beam challenges, and other engaging activities that sparked laughter and cheers. Watching parents and children team up created memorable moments and deepened our sense of togetherness.
Genesis Family Fit Day 2025 achieved exactly what it set out to do: promote wellness while bringing our community closer than ever. The shared enthusiasm, high participation, and genuine enjoyment showed just how powerful collective physical activity can be. The event concluded with happy, tired smiles and a renewed commitment to a healthy lifestyle. Beyond encouraging physical fitness, Family Fit Day helped strengthen relationships across the Genesis community.
Little Authors, Big Voices: Grade 1 Brings Stories to Life!
Kevin Mawey - PYP Grade 1 Homeroom
Our first graders explored the inspiring idea that “Stories can express who we are.” They discovered that stories are more than words on a page—they are windows into our thoughts, experiences, and imagination. Throughout the unit, students discussed how authors use stories to share their feelings, ideas, and identity. This inquiry helped them appreciate storytelling as a meaningful form of expression.
To support their growth as little writers, students were introduced to the SWBST (Somebody–Wanted–But–So–Then) structure. They practiced identifying these elements in familiar stories, noticing how characters face challenges and work towards solutions. With guidance from teachers, they learned how this structure helps organize ideas clearly and purposefully—an important foundation for writing their own narratives.
The class then embarked on a collaborative writing journey. Together, they brainstormed characters, settings, and problems before weaving their ideas into one shared class story. Students also became illustrators, designing visuals that brought the story to life. This process encouraged teamwork, communication, and creativity as they discovered how authors and illustrators work hand in hand.
With growing confidence, students transitioned from creating a class story to writing their own personal storybooks. Using the SWBST structure, they planned and drafted their narratives, showcasing their unique voices and imagination. Each student crafted a story that reflects who they are and what inspires them. We are incredibly proud of their growth as they continue their journey as little authors and storytellers.

Strengthening Partnerships, Elevating Experiences
Mochamad Alif - Marketing
Mochamad Alif - Over the past few months, the Event & Community Division at Genesis has continued to expand, creating meaningful opportunities for growth and learning. Beyond coordinating internal school activities, our division has also focused on strengthening strategic external partnerships that support and elevate our programs.
As part of this division, I’ve had the opportunity to be directly involved in planning and executing a wide range of school events. Each activity has offered valuable experiences—from working with the Department of Education to engaging professionally with partners and sponsors whose contributions help ensure the success of our initiatives and events.
From preparing proposals and negotiating sponsorships to ensuring smooth on-site operations, every step in the process has deepened my skills in event management, public communication, and community network development. I have seen firsthand how each collaboration brings added value to the school, enhancing the quality of our events while also opening doors for long-term partnerships.
Through this journey, I’ve come to understand that building a community is more than organizing events; it is about creating meaningful connections, maintaining trust, and delivering the best experiences for our students, parents, and partners who walk alongside us.
Thank you to everyone who has supported each step and provided opportunities for continued growth.
A Season of Gratitude and Growth
Emmy Purba - MYP Grade 7 Homeroom
As we near the end of the first semester, this is a wonderful time to express our gratitude and celebrate our students’ achievements. Achievement is not defined only by grades or scores.. It also includes how well students adjust to the new environments, new friends, new teachers, and navigate a new school system. This semester, our students have demonstrated remarkable courage, steady effort, and strong adaptability as they embraced many changes.
We are proud of their willingness to learn, ask questions, try new things, and continually improve. Each student has grown in their own unique way - whether by becoming more confident, more responsible, or better able to manage their time and tasks. These forms of development are just as important as their academic progress.
Our gratitude extends to our teachers for their dedication and daily commitment to guiding our students every day. To our parents, thank you for your continuous support and trust. Together, we create a positive and nurturing learning environment for all.
As a school community, we continue to uphold our RAISE values - Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Service, and Excellence. These values help our students build strong character and guide their actions in everything they do.
While one semester comes to a close, a new one awaits with fresh opportunities, renewed excitement, and many more achievements to celebrate!

Together We Grow: Fostering Inclusion and Kindness at GGCS
Puspita Dewi - PYP Shadow Teacher
At GGCS, inclusive education is not just an idea—it is a daily practice woven into the fabric of our community. Students with diverse learning needs and those who benefit from additional support learn, play, and grow alongside their peers in an environment built on tolerance, empathy, and respect. This supportive culture ensures that every child feels valued, understood, and accepted.
Across grade levels, our students consistently show patience and compassion when classmates with diverse learning needs face challenges or make mistakes. Instead of reacting negatively, they offer space, encouragement, and genuine support. Simple gestures—inviting a friend to play, waiting patiently, or helping to clarify instructions—demonstrate meaningful acts of kindness and true friendship.
These positive interactions reflect a school culture that recognizes differences in ability and learning styles as a natural part of growing and developing. Our teachers and staff play a key role by modeling empathy, fairness, and acceptance through everyday routines and collaborative classroom experiences. As a result, students learn to uplift one another rather than compare or compete.
This high level of tolerance benefits all students. Those who benefit from additional support gain confidence, build friendships, and enjoy positive learning experiences in a safe and caring environment. Meanwhile, their peers develop into individuals who are compassionate, understanding, and comfortable with diversity. Through inclusion, GGCS not only supports academic progress but also nurtures strong character and empathy—qualities essential for life in a diverse and interconnected world.
New Year, Same Me: A Learning Support Approach
Nathassya Pattihawean - PYP Shadow Teacher
This January, learning support begins the new term with the theme “New Year, Same Me,” emphasizing consistency, trust, and emotional readiness as the foundation for learning. For students who need individual support, starting the year does not mean changing everything at once, but building on familiar routines while gently introducing new goals. This approach helps students feel safe, safe, confident, and prepared to engage in their school day.
In a one-on-one learning support setting, each morning starts with intentional planning and negotiation. Together, the student and learning support teacher discuss the subjects to be learned, the structure of the day, and the support needed to succeed. Break times and “me time” are also thoughtfully planned, serving both as sensory regulation opportunities and meaningful motivation. This collaborative process encourages student voice, supports self-regulation, and fosters a sense of ownership over learning.
Through daily reflection and guided support, students are encouraged to develop independence, self-awareness, and resilience key attributes of the IB Learner Profile. By maintaining consistent strategies while allowing space for growth, learning support continues to empower students to participate confidently in their learning journey, celebrating progress while honoring who they already are.

From Challenge to Collaboration: Empowering Teamwork Across Departments
Meidina Batubara - HR
The Back Office Team came together for a dedicated team building workshop to strengthen connections across departments. The session was attended by staff from Operations, Finance, Admissions, Marketing, and Building Maintenance, highlighting the collaborative spirit across the school. Beyond daily operational responsibilities, this workshop provided a positive and engaging space where staff could unwind, recharge, and foster stronger working relationships, while reinforcing collaboration and teamwork.
The highlight of the workshop was the Marshmallow Spaghetti Tower Challenge, where teams were tasked with building the tallest and most stable tower using only spaghetti sticks, tape, string, and a marshmallow. This seemingly simple activity presented a variety of challenges, teams had to plan effectively, distribute roles, communicate clearly under time pressure, and adapt quickly when initial ideas failed. These challenges mirrored real workplace scenarios, where problem solving, flexibility, and collaboration are key to reach the goals.
Through this hands on experience, staff gained insight into how communication and coordination impact outcomes, how adaptability helps overcome unexpected difficulties, and how creativity and collective effort can turn constraints into solutions. Teams that collaborated openly, listened to different perspectives, and supported one another not only built stronger towers but also reinforced the value of teamwork, trust, and mutual accountability in the workplace. These moments reflected the realities of work, where success often depends on how well individuals work together rather than on individual effort alone.
The session also highlighted leadership and team dynamics in action. Natural leaders emerged by guiding discussion, encouraging participation, and aligning team members toward a shared goal. Staff reflected on key learnings such as the importance of role clarity, the value of planning before action, the need to adapt when strategies don’t go as planned, and how collective problem solving leads to better outcomes. These insights reinforced that effective collaboration and leadership are not limited to formal titles, but are cultivated through everyday interactions, encouragement, and shared responsibility.
Overall, this session contributed to ongoing staff development by strengthening collaboration, enhancing communication, fostering creative problem solving, identifying natural leadership, and boosting morale across the Back Office team. The reflections from this activity will continue to inform how we work together, improve coordination across departments, and foster a positive and supportive work culture. As we move forward, the lessons learned from this experience will support continuous improvement and stronger teamwork in achieving collective goals.
The Quiet Power: Why Silent Reading Time is a Cornerstone of Our IB MYP Classroom
Daniel Harianto - MYP B. Indonesia Language & Literature Teacher
Imagine walking into our classroom and finding a room full of IB MYP students, completely silent. But instead of empty silence, the air is buzzing with quiet focus. Every student is lost in a book of their own choice. This is our dedicated Silent Reading time, a non-negotiable part of our weekly schedule. Far from being a break from learning, this quiet period is one of the most powerful tools we use. It is a sacred time where students build a lifelong friendship with books, on their own terms. For teenagers constantly connected to digital noise, this offers a rare and valuable space for calm, independent exploration.
The benefits of this practice are profound, especially for students in the demanding International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme. First and foremost, it directly fuels academic success. Regular reading for pleasure is the single biggest factor in building a stronger vocabulary, improving writing skills, and boosting overall literacy. When our MYP students read widely, they unconsciously absorb complex sentence structures and new terminology. This directly supports every subject they study, from crafting analytical essays in Language and Literature to understanding complex texts in Individuals and Societies. They become better learners, simply by getting lost in a good story.
Beyond grades, Silent Reading builds essential life skills. The IB programme champions learners who are thinkers and who manage their own wellbeing. This quiet time fosters both. It strengthens concentration and focus, a muscle that needs exercise in our distracted world. It also provides a vital mental break, reducing stress and allowing minds to reset. In those quiet minutes, students learn to be comfortable with their own thoughts, building resilience and self-awareness. They learn to choose their own books, set their own pace, and follow their curiosity—becoming truly independent learners.
This approach is strongly supported by educational research. A landmark study by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) consistently finds that reading for enjoyment is a major predictor of a student's future academic and social success. Furthermore, researchers like Dr. Stephen Krashen, a leading expert in language education, have shown that Free Voluntary Reading (FVR)—reading because you want to—is the most effective way to develop literacy, spelling, and writing ability. In our IB MYP classroom, we put this research into action every week. We invite you, as parents and potential partners in your child’s education, to celebrate this quiet time. It is not just reading; it is the foundation for a thoughtful, knowledgeable, and balanced IB learner.

A New Year of Little Steps and Big Changes
Herman Adi - MYP Design Teacher
Every January, the calendar changes, and the pressure rises. We hear the phrase "New Year, New You" everywhere, from classroom walls to social media posts to dinner table conversations. But parents, students, and teachers don't always see real growth when things change a lot. Sometimes, the best way to move forward is to keep doing what works. A student who keeps going even when things go wrong, a parent who stays calm in the middle of all the chaos of daily life, or a teacher who shows up every day with quiet dedication. These people aren't "new," but they are always changing.
Students don't have to change who they are completely when the new year starts. It could mean changing one small habit, like asking more questions, managing your time better, or believing in yourself more. Parents don't have to change how they raise their kids all at once, either. Sometimes, being consistent, encouraging, and present is more important than making big promises. And for teachers, the same spirit that guided last year's lessons can keep shaping young minds, maybe with a new point of view but still with the same goal.
So maybe the better question isn't "New Year, New Me" but "New Year, Better Me." Sometimes growth isn't loud or easy to see. It grows slowly through thought, work, and time. The new year is just another "one" chapter. Whether you're teaching a class, mentoring a child, or learning something new, being a little nicer to yourself and others can make a big difference.
Grade 3 Science Unit 4 Kick-Off
Anne Yuliana - PYP Grade 3 Homeroom
Grade 3 students kicked off their new science unit with an exciting Egg Drop Experiment over two days—Thursday, January 15, and Monday, January 19, 2026. This hands-on provocation sparked curiosity and enthusiasm as students made predictions, tested ideas, and explored how forces, materials, and design choices affect outcomes. Learning by doing allowed students to dive straight into scientific thinking—while having lots of fun.
Across both sessions, students engaged in the design and reflection process, using their observations from the first day to improve and refine their structures on the second day. This engaging experience helped students develop key scientific inquiry, collaboration, and problem-solving skills as they analyzed results and made thoughtful design changes.
The Egg Drop Experiment sets a strong foundation for deeper learning throughout the unit and prepares students for future investigations leading up to the Experts Visit on January 30, 2026, and Science Fair on February 27, 2026.
Please enjoy the photos from our Grade 3 science unit 4 kick-off as we celebrate our students’ curiosity, creativity, and innovative thinking!

When Traditions Meet: Growing International-Mindedness at GGCS
Kenji Seng - Director of School
This month brings a meaningful moment where multiple traditions are observed within our community. With Lunar New Year celebrations and the beginning of the fasting month falling within the same week, our students are witnessing — in real time — how diverse cultural and religious practices can exist side by side with mutual respect and understanding.
At Genesis Global Community School, we see moments like this not only as calendar events, but as learning opportunities. They allow us to model and practice the values we speak about — respect, empathy, awareness, and international-mindedness. Our students are reminded that communities are made stronger not by sameness, but by the ability to understand and honor differences.
An IB education encourages students to be open-minded and principled — to recognize that people may hold different beliefs, traditions, and perspectives, and that these differences are worth understanding. Cultural awareness is not taught only through units of inquiry or classroom lessons, but also through lived experiences and shared community moments.
In school, students will see friends celebrating, observing, reflecting, and participating in different ways. These experiences help develop social awareness and compassion. They learn to ask respectful questions, to be thoughtful in their actions, and to appreciate that traditions carry meaning for the people who observe them.
As a school community, our role is to create an environment where every student feels seen and respected, and where diversity becomes a source of learning rather than division. When students grow up in an environment that practices mutual respect across cultures, they develop the mindset and character needed to thrive in a global society. International-mindedness is not just a concept in our IB framework; it is something we practice.
Moments like these remind us that education is not only academic, but it is also a privilege to share this time of learning with our students, our families, and our entire GGCS community.
Embracing Differences Through Fun and Friendship
Karyn Seng - Head of Admision & Marketing
This month, our Fun Wednesday theme was Mismatch Day! Students came to school wearing mismatched outfits — from different socks and bold patterns to creative and unexpected combinations.
While it was certainly a day filled with colour and laughter, Mismatch Day was about more than just fun fashion. It gave students the opportunity to express their creativity, celebrate individuality, and confidently showcase their unique personalities.
It was wonderful to see students sharing smiles and laughter as they admired one another’s imaginative outfits. Beyond the excitement, the day also reminded us of some important values:
• Everyone is unique and has their own ideas.
• Our differences are something to celebrate — and learn from.
• Even if we have different styles or preferences from our friends, that’s perfectly okay!
When we embrace and celebrate our differences, we strengthen our friendships and build a more inclusive, joyful school community. At Genesis, we believe that well-being flourishes when kindness and friendship are woven into everyday school life.

One Little Action Can Bring Change in GGCS
Syifaul Khuluq - MYP Coordinator
At GGCS (Genesis Global Community School), change does not always begin with something big. Sometimes, one small action can create a powerful impact on the whole community.
One of the most powerful impacts of GGCS values is the development of strong character. Students are guided to practice Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Service, and Excellence (R.A.I.S.E) in their daily interactions. By consistently reinforcing these principles, the school nurtures learners who understand the importance of integrity both inside and outside the classroom.
When students internalize these values, they become more accountable for their actions. They learn to admit mistakes, respect differences, and make ethical decisions. Over time, this builds maturity and self-discipline—qualities that are essential for lifelong success.
Aligned with the values promoted by the International Baccalaureate (IB), students at GGCS are encouraged to take meaningful action, no matter how small. Holding the door for a friend, helping a classmate understand a lesson, speaking kindly, or completing assignments responsibly are all small actions that build a positive school culture.
These little actions strengthen respect, empathy, and collaboration among students. They also show that leadership is not about position, but about initiative. When one student chooses to act with integrity and kindness, it inspires others to do the same.
As part of its identity, GGCS integrates environmental awareness into its core values. Students are encouraged to care for the environment and engage in meaningful action. Activities such as sustainability projects, community service, and environmental campaigns cultivate a sense of responsibility toward the planet and society.
By taking real action, students see that their choices matter. This empowers them to become proactive change-makers rather than passive learners.
At GGCS, change begins with you. One small action today can create a ripple effect tomorrow.
Celebrating Creativity and Growth at the MYP Art Exhibition
Muhammad Al Firdaus - MYP Art Teacher
Genesis Global Community School proudly hosted the MYP Art Exhibition, a meaningful celebration of creativity, reflection, and artistic development by our Grade 7 and Grade 8 students.
The exhibition began with an opening ceremony in the auditorium, followed by a gallery visit where students confidently presented their artworks to parents, teachers, and invited guests. This event was not only a showcase of final products, but also a reflection of the students’ learning journey throughout the academic year.
Throughout the Visual Arts program, students explored foundational artistic skills and concepts, including basic cardboard sculpture, Cubism, and Post-Impressionism. They learned to experiment with materials, understand artistic styles, apply various techniques, and most importantly, express ideas and emotions through visual language.
A key focus of this year’s exhibition was presentation skills. Each student was given an individual panel to display their artwork along with a written explanation of their artistic process. During the gallery visit, students explained their concept, chosen style, techniques, challenges, and reflections. This experience allowed them to strengthen their communication skills, confidence, and ability to reflect on their own learning.
The exhibition assessment was structured to reflect holistic learning:
• 50% Presentation Skills.
• 30% Painting and Illustration Skills
• 20% Final Product Outcome
In addition to the exhibition, we also held a small Art Market. Selected student artworks were available for purchase, and visitors were able to bring the artwork home immediately after payment. As part of our commitment to nurturing empathy and global responsibility, 30% of the proceeds will be donated to a charity program. Through this initiative, students learned that art can extend beyond personal expression and contribute positively to the wider community.
The MYP Art Exhibition was not only a display of creativity but also a celebration of growth, courage, and reflection. We are incredibly proud of our students for their dedication, creativity, and confidence in sharing their artistic journey.
We extend our sincere appreciation to our school leadership, teachers, parents, and students for their continued support. We look forward to welcoming everyone again at next year’s MYP Art Exhibition.

When Sound Brings Us Together
giantira michelle - PYP Teacher Assistant
(Classroom Innovation Stories)
In Grade 1, learning about sound became more than just a science lesson — it became an experience. This week, students explored the idea that sound is made when something vibrates by observing a speaker as music played. Instead of simply hearing the sound, they watched closely, noticing the gentle vibrations and asking curious questions. Seeing the concept come to life helped students connect theory with real-world observation in a meaningful and memorable way.
What made this moment even more special was how naturally collaboration unfolded. Students leaned in together, made space for one another, and respectfully shared their thinking. Some invited friends closer so everyone could see. Through this simple yet powerful activity, students were not only developing their understanding of sound, but also strengthening their communication and social skills.
In Grade 1, innovation means creating opportunities where curiosity, kindness, and connection grow side by side. When children feel safe to wonder, observe, and share their ideas, learning becomes joyful and purposeful. As we continue our inquiry journey, we celebrate these moments where academic understanding and well-being come together because sometimes, the most powerful learning happens when sound truly brings us together. 💛
Kindness in Action: Lighting Up Learning Together
Adonia Halel - PYP Grade 4 Homeroom
In PYP 4, our recent electrical circuit challenge became more than a science activity. It became a lesson in kindness, friendship, and well-being. After observing a demonstration, students worked together to build a functioning circuit. When the bulb did not light up on the first try, they chose patience over frustration. They listened to each other’s ideas, adjusted their connections, and encouraged one another to keep trying. As one student said, “It’s not working yet… try holding it here.”
Working in a small group meant every voice mattered. Students took turns testing the wires, checking the battery placement, and suggesting solutions.
